Dog with vision impairment scared in shelter, needs a foster/rescue ASAP!
If you can foster 8 year old Reese, please email foster@charlietotherescue.org and we will try to find a rescue to work with you to cover Reese's expenses/vet costs.
Meet Reese,
Reese arrived at our shelter as a stray so not much is known about his history.
During his vet exam, it was found that Reese had vision impairment consistent with a condition called pannus. Most cases respond well to topical medications. Some dogs will require referral to a board-certified veterinary ophthalmologist for more aggressive treatments. In severe cases, surgery to remove the scar tissue associated with pannus may be recommended to improve the pet's vision.
Reese is also showing increased signs of kennel stress. When removed from the kennel he is nervous, circles around his handler and will jump up intermittently. We are sure he is used to the comforts of a home and not the loud shelter environment. That, combined with his vision impairment, means we are sure he is very frightened here.
Due to his medical needs and behavior, we are hoping to place Reese with a rescue partner ASAP.
