Zoe- 2 y/o, unaltered female, 73lbs
Zoe is new here and we are still getting to know her. She came to BARCS at no fault of her own, and her previous family described her as being a timid girl who may need some time to warm up to new people. She enjoys being outside and running, walks well on leash, and her favorite toys are balls and sticks. She has been exposed to children ages 2-6 years old, as well as other dogs, and did well.
Since arriving in our care, Zoe has been quite fearful and overwhelmed, understandably. She is easily startled by loud noises and/or quick movements but does well with a quiet voice and gentle coaxing. She was cooperative for minimal restraint during her intake exam, and although not food motivated, she proved to know several commands, like "sit," "stay," "place," and "down."
Poor Zoe is struggling to adjust to the bustling shelter environment and is alert to strangers and other dogs out and about, though seems to relax a bit outside on walks when at a distance from the shelter. She has been tolerant of back pets and gentle touch to her head and sides. She will also politely approach strangers to sniff their hands but was not interested in pets. Although she ducked for unleashing she did not have any issues.
Zoe appears healthy at this time, is up to date on Rabies, Bordetella, and Distemper + Lepto vaccines, and she is also 4DX negative as of 11/16/24. A full medical summary can be provided upon request.
Zoe is available immediately for rescue pick-up.
