In Washington County, MD: Aala is lost in the world. Can you guide her?
Please share Aala's plea, one second to share may mean a lifetime for her!
I hope this message finds you well. I’m reaching out from the Humane Society of Washington County in Hagerstown, MD regarding a young dog in our care who desperately needs a more supportive environment.
Aala is an 11-month-old cattle dog mix who came to us as a stray. Since arriving, she’s been overwhelmed and shut down by the shelter environment. She is terrified of the world around her, unsocialized — but there are glimpses of hope. She allows gentle pets, walks quietly on leash, and is clearly trying to understand how to navigate human interaction. Once given space to roam, she tends to retreat and hide, signaling just how fragile and unprepared she is for such a chaotic setting.
We truly believe Aala has the potential to become someone’s deeply bonded companion. But she’s not going to get there here. What she needs now is a patient, calm, one-on-one placement where someone can help her break through that fear and learn to trust. Aala is 11 months old, fully vaccinated and microchipps but is currently unaltered.
If your organization has space for a dog like Aala — one who won’t thrive in a shelter, but could blossom with time and understanding — we would love to connect. Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions or for more information.
With gratitude,
