Cornbread Needs Rescue NOW!!
Meet Cornbread, a shy and sensitive pittie in need of rescue. Brought into our care as a stray, very little is known about her past—but it is clear that her experiences have left her feeling frightened and uncertain about the world around her.
When Cornbread first arrived, she was completely frozen with fear outside the shelter. She refused to walk on a leash and attempted to flee whenever possible. Our behavior team worked patiently to get her safely inside and provided her with the time and space she needed to begin decompressing.
After several days of dedicated support—including behavioral interventions, medication, and regular interactions with confident canine companions—Cornbread has begun to slowly come out of her shell. She has participated in playgroups with other dogs and, while still wary of unfamiliar people, has shown encouraging progress and promise when meeting new friends.
Unfortunately, her progress remains slow, and it is becoming clear that the kennel environment is limiting her ability to continue building confidence. Cornbread would greatly benefit from placement with a dedicated rescue that can offer a calmer, more consistent setting and continue the patient, positive work she needs to thrive.
Cornbread has not yet completed her intake exam, but she will receive a full medical evaluation prior to transfer to rescue.
