Please share Chili's plea with update! And let's get this boy a warm, loving place to be!
UPDATE: More info on him. He is a f/s brindle pittie who came in stray a few days ago with another dog Cornbread who was also f/s. While Cornbread has made progress with us, Chili hasn't and still remains shutdown and fearful. He will tolerate touch and is starting to walk a little better on leash. We are separating him and Cornbread as they have a unhealthy codependent relationship, but another calm, social dog might be helpful for him. We tried a walk with him and other dogs, but he didn't show much interest in them, though Cornbread was still around and he was gravitating towards her and we were outside in an unfamiliar environment.

Chili Needs Rescue
Meet Chili, a shy brindle pittie in need of rescue. Brought into our care as a stray, very little is known about his past—but it’s clear that his experiences have left him feeling frightened and unsure of the world around him.
When Chili first arrived, he was completely frozen with fear outside the shelter. He refused to walk on leash and attempted to flee at any opportunity. Our behavior team worked to get him safely inside and provided him time and space to decompress. Unfortunately, even after several days of support—including behavioral interventions, medication, and the presence of a confident canine companion—Chili remains unwilling to walk on leash and continues to struggle in the shelter environment.
Chili is not showing signs of aggression—only fear. The shelter setting appears to be too stressful for him to begin truly healing, and we believe he would greatly benefit from placement with a rescue experienced in working with shut-down and fearful dogs in a quieter, more structured environment.
Whatever circumstances led Chili to us have clearly had an impact, and we are hopeful that with patience, consistency, and a safe space, his true personality can finally begin to emerge.
Chili has not yet completed his intake exam, but he will receive a full medical evaluation prior to transfer to rescue.
If your rescue is able to help give Chili the chance he deserves, please reach out.
