Stunning Young Black Shepherd! Seeking Rescue! (Baldwin, MD)

Meet Draco! This stunning shepherd came to BCAS as an owner surrender due to the neighbors not being comfortable with the pet next door, claiming they don’t like his barking. Draco has previously lived with kids (ages 2 and 5 years old), and did well! He also is noted to be very smart and high energy in the home but that is not atypical for the breed. He has even been around other dogs and did well! Here at the shelter, Draco is very nervous in his kennel but is able to be handled. He did well for his vet exam too! He is environmentally nervous and may startle at loud noises and move away from those auditory triggers. He did a buddy walk here at the shelter with a neutral dog and they coexisted peacefully! It took him a bit of time to warm up to the other dog to feel completely comfortable, please see behavior notes attached for more information on his dog test. Draco is overall a nervous pup who exhibits breed specific behaviors, he is pretty aloof to novel people but will seek assurance from those he is comfortable with. We are hoping to see improvement here at the shelter but what Draco really needs is consistency beyond the shelter walls. Due to his current behaviors we are looking to place him with a rescue organization asap to ensure his behavioral needs are met and worked with appropriately.
