Urgent Rescue Needed! Very Protective Mama w/ Newborn Kittens! (Baldwin, MD)
Meet the Darla family! Mamma Darla was brought in as a very pregnant stray in a tote bin. She was very sweet during her intake exam and vaccinations. She gave birth Friday night and on Saturday she has become a very protective mama. She seems to be taking great care of her kittens though. However, in a kennel she is charging at the front of the cage and has been quite difficult to care for due to her forward behaviors. Unfortunately, she did scratch a staff member so the Darla family will need to be held on a 10 day quarantine. We are hoping that the stress of the shelter and being in confinement is just too much for a mother cat and that once out of the shelter she will relax a bit. Darla has not had a full medical examination yet due to her behavior, once we confirm rescue placement, we will be able to do her examination as to only cause one stressful event for her. She is seemingly healthy at this time. Due to her current behaviors at this time we are looking to place her with a rescue organization to ensure her behavioral needs are safely met and so she can raise her kittens outside of the shelter.
If you can help Darla and her 3 kittens please email bcasrescue@baltimorecountymd.gov
Thank you!
