Very Overweight Rottweiler- Seeking Rescue or Adopter! (Baldwin, MD)
Meet Akira! Akira came to Baltimore County Animal Services as an owner surrender after they no longer had time to care for her. They reported she did well with children under 12 but never lived with other dogs or kids. They said she is housebroken but not crate trained. They also said she greets strangers well when on walks. Initially here at the shelter, Akira was a bit stranger weary, she growled and did not want to be leashed. After a day or so to settle in she was able to be leashed and came out of her kennel for some pets. She decompressed in a staff members office, she was heavily panting the entire time but there were no behavior concerns note. Akira is a sweet girl who is just scared to be at the shelter. We are hoping to get this lovely thick lady out of the shelter and able to meet some weight loss goals asap. She is currently 157.6lbs and considered obese. She also had a mammary gland removed and a eyelid cyst removed during her spay surgery but is recovering well!
