Acai Bowl - 1yo, altered M, 53.6lbs
Acai Bowl is a young husky with a big personality, bright spirit, and so much love to give. Recently returned to the shelter from foster care, he is urgently seeking rescue. At the shelter, resource guarding was noted in the play yard setting, including a head whip when greeted by another dog while drinking from a shared basin. With humans, Acai has been noted to growl and give a “warning” snap if someone tries to take his food. No guarding has been noted with humans outside of food, and toys have not been an issue. Strong management is recommended in multi-dog homes, including separate feeding and drinking stations and avoiding shared high-value items such as food, water, chews, or special toys.
Despite this, Acai Bowl spent a snowy weekend with a volunteer and was described as an absolute delight. He loved playing in the snow and soaking up attention and affection. He is a fun, cuddly, curious boy with joyful, puppy-like energy. He enjoyed frequent outdoor time and lots of play while in foster. He enjoys chest, head, and ear rubs and truly thinks he is a baby. He is still learning house training but is already showing progress with a consistent routine and supervision. He does well crated, sleeping in his crate at night and settling for short daytime periods. Like many huskies, he can be vocal and a bit dramatic, not because he is upset, but because he would rather be involved, snuggling, or collecting snacks. After a few days in foster, he began to show that he felt more secure and comfortable with the routine.
Acai Bowl is overall healthy and has interacted nicely with other dogs at the shelter, including small breeds, and does best with polite friends.
